Department Information

The Indiana University School of Social Work works in collaboration with the Indiana Department of Child Services to better protect children at risk of abuse and neglect. A key to this collaboration is the creation of the Child Welfare Education and Training Partnership. The Partnership is designed to provide high quality social work education and statewide training for public child welfare employees. It provides BSW students with preparation for employment as a Family Case Manager; it allows DCS employees to enroll in the School's part-time MSW Program; and it provides state-of-the-art training to current DCS employees. This partnership is recognized nationally for its success and for its joint collaborative operation. Due to these efforts, Indiana is now seen as a model for the provision of public services that support children and families

Job Summary

Department-Specific Responsibilities

  • Works within the Success Factors system to ensure that trainings are loaded (using SCORM and other programming), assigned to appropriate participants, and tracked.
  • Works closely with DCS Learning Governance team on daily tasks and processes

General Responsibilities

  • Provides experienced monitoring, back-up and recovery, maintenance scripting, problem resolution, and performance tuning of databases; consults with customers to address and resolve database issues.
  • Performs experienced data conversion and data migration; identifies and repairs data quality issues; configures and implements database updates to improve security and performance.
  • Maintains security at the highest level by adhering to security standards and protocols; collaborates with development teams to develop, test, and ensure implementation of security best practices and policies.
  • Designs database-specific processes and scripts in accordance with team directives and goals.
  • Documents database administration activities (changes/updates, issues/solutions, etc.)
  • Maintains and develops technical expertise through professional development, including attending conferences and exhibitions.
  • Serves as an experienced resource for problem diagnosis and resolution of issues arising from the deployment and operation of database applications.

Working Conditions / Demands

This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.

May require occasional travel to the downtown training location for meetings.

Additional Information

This position is grant funded with expected annual renewals. Renewals are contingent on the availability of grant funds.
