Preschool child care center positions involve a broad range of responsibilities and qualifications, all aimed at delivering high-quality care and supervision for children ages 18 months to 5 years in a preschool setting. These roles are designed to foster a safe, nurturing, and educational environment that supports the developmental needs of infants, toddlers, and preschool aged children. By providing attentive guidance and individualized support, preschool child care staff play a crucial role in promoting each child’s healthy growth, learning, and overall well-being.
These positions are based in employee child care centers, supporting the children of staff members and contributing to the well-being of families within the workplace community. The preschool program operates on weekdays, with hours available from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm and 7:30 am to 5:30 pm. Please note that specific locations and assignments may vary depending on program needs.

Preschool Child Care Teacher ($18.75/hr)
Job Description: Responsible for supervising a child care activity or a group of children in care in a preschool setting.
Qualifications: Age 19 plus HS diploma (or GED) or successful completion of college courses for credit; plus 6 semesters or 90 clock hours or equivalent; plus 1 year of experience working with infants/toddlers and/or preschoolers in an approved setting or 1 year of college or equivalent combination of education and experience as outlined and in accordance with the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) requirements.
Preschool Assistant Child Care Teacher ($16.75/hr)
Job Description: Responsible for helping a child care teacher in a preschool setting. May lead the activities of a group of children under supervision.
Qualifications: Age 18 plus HS diploma (or GED) or successful completion of college courses for credit; plus 3 semesters or 45 clock hours; plus 400 hours working with children in an approved setting or equivalent as outlined and in accordance with the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) requirements.
Preschool Child Care Assistant ($16.25/hr)
Job Description: Responsible for helping a child care teacher/assistant teacher within a preschool setting. May lead the activities of a group of children under supervision.
Qualifications: Age 18 plus HS Diploma (or GED) or equivalency as outlined in accordance with the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) requirements.
Preschool Child Care Aide ($16.00/hr)
Job Description: Responsible for helping the child care teacher/assistant teacher within a preschool setting. Assist teachers with activities of a group of children under direct supervision.
Qualifications: Age 16 in accordance with the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) requirements. Ages 17 or under must have a work permit from high school.
A criminal background investigation will be completed prior to hire.
May be subject to medical, drug and alcohol testing.

The following information is a summary of benefits extended to all Seasonal employees of the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission (M-NCPPC). This is for informational purposes only and is subject to change.
Limited Benefits for Seasonal Employees
Health Insurance Plans
You are eligible for specific health insurance benefits if you worked, on average, 30 hours per week during your first 12 months of employment or from October 3rd to October 2nd each subsequent period following your first 12 months of employment. This equates to 1,560 hours over a 12-month period.
If and when you are eligible for benefits, you will receive notification directly from the Health & Benefits Office.
Eligible Employees Pay 35% of the health insurance plan premium and The Commission Pays 65%.
