Job Description

Media Measurement Data Refinement Data Engineer

The MM Data Refinement Team is part of the global Media Measurement technology team, contributing to its agile proprietary software development program.

Media Measurement is a division withing GfK specialized in collecting processing and reporting media KPIs to Media Agencies, Publishers, Joint Industry Committees (JICs) and Advertisers. We cover all media types, including traditional channels like TV, Radio and Print Press, as well as digital platforms. We provide insights into the digital behavior of the population of a given country, evaluate results of digital campaigns, and offer various other digital consumption metrics.

We are looking to hire a data engineer who will focus on development of new components and maintaining legacy ones. If you are self-driven, motivated and positive person, who likes to smile a lot and laugh out loud, but at the same time person who is keen on its job and get the things done. Key Activities

• Support the software development and optimization of data processing and ETL workflows
• Work on software components that include data transformation workflows and data integration services
• Apply an end-to-end view and focus on overall data integrity and data flow rather than closed software components
• Support QA tests covering data transformation components and workflows
• Maintain a clear understanding of the relevant domain models, integration points and evolution lifecycles
• Maintain good overview of (and consult the teams on) database technologies used by the applications
• Document and handover new and changed applications to end users

Qualifications

Required skills and knowledge

• 2+ years of software development experience
• Experience with data processing pipelines, workflow scheduling like Airflow and ETL tooling in general
• Expert knowledge of Python, SQL, Spark, Pandas
• Experience with AWS and/or Azure, GCP, Data warehouse
• Experience with version control systems such as Git
• Experience with Software testing and CI/CD pipelines (Gitlab)
• Strong communication skills
• Fluent level of English language, both written and spoken

Optional Skills and knowledge

• Containerization with Docker
• Experience with BI/Dashboarding tools such as Grafana, Tableau
• Experience with Java and/or Scala
• Agile development in general and scaling agile frameworks like Less or SAFe in particular
