Salary Range: $50,000/9-month academic rate.

Hours: up to 40 hours per week, exempt.

Essential Functions

Job Summary

The Department of Mathematics in the College of Sciences at The University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) invites applications for one (1) position at the rank of Lecturer starting in Fall 2025.

Anticipated contract length of 1 to 3 years and will be reviewed at the end of the first academic year for renewal, based on performance. Appointments can be renewed by the Dean without limit, contingent on annual performance reviews that meet or exceed expectations.

Essential Functions

  1. Helps plan, coordinate, promote, and recruit for the UTeachSA program and activities.
  2. Instructs focused pedagogy courses for the program.
  3. Develops curricular materials aligned with State Pedagogy and Professional Responsibility Standards.
  4. Travels to local public-school classrooms to observe and provide feedback to UTeachSA students during field teach experiences.
  5. Collaborates and works with faculty, staff, and public-school mentors to identify and address student and program needs.
  6. Develops and implements TExES tutoring/ review sessions for mathematics and science.
  7. Communicates and coordinates regularly with UTeachSA program director.

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in education, mathematics, or science (mathematics preferred).
  • A minimum of 8 years’ experience in public school education.
  • Professional development experience.
  • Experience in the supervision of public-school math or science teachers (preferably secondary).
  • Knowledge of the Texas Examinations of Educator Standards, PPR standards, TEKS and TExES examination.
  • Experience developing and aligning curriculum materials to state standards.
  • Knowledge and familiarity with lesson development and design, instructional strategies, English Language Proficiency Standards.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Satisfactory criminal background check.
  • This position requires the ability to maintain the security and integrity of UTSA and its infrastructure.

Working Conditions

This position will be primarily located on campus. Travel and parking expenses are the employee’s responsibility.
