This Medical Records Clerk must be on-site but can be any of these Hospitals:

Mercy Medical in Springfield, MA

Saint Francis in Hartford, CT (ad listing)

Saint Mary's in Waterbury, CT

Johnson Memorial in Stafford Springs, CT

Position Purpose

Scanning and indexing medical records to create an electronic record available to multiple users simultaneously for patient care, hospital operations, and processing of patient accounts. The HIM staff will ensure during the prepping, scanning and indexing process that all records are complete

What you will do

  • Analyze patient records for physician documentation
  • Perform initial analysis of a patient’s chart upon discharge
  • Verify the deficiencies are assigned appropriately
  • Reassign deficiencies to the appropriate provider
  • Add new deficiencies for outstanding documentation
  • Check the accuracy of completed documentation while the patient is still admitted
  • Follow up on declined and done deficiencies from your workqueue list

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Graduate or equivalent. Associates Degree in Health Information Management or presently enrolled in a Health Information Technology program or similar degree preferred
  • Two or more year’s analytical and/or clerical experience in an acute care setting required
  • EPIC EXPERIENCE STRONGLY PREFERRED-- Applicants with clear EPIC experience will be given priority
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, requirements for complete medical records, HIPAA and privacy regulations required
