JOB SUMMARY:
Provides clerical assistance and types correspondence, schedules, and various forms, etc. for department. Answers telephones, prepares reports, takes minutes, may schedule meetings, and assist with maintenance of department payroll records.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Provides clerical assistance, maintain files, and types correspondence, memos, reports, schedules, and forms, etc. Processes incoming and outgoing mail.
2. Answers telephones, screen calls, takes messages, and provides information according to established procedures.
3. Orders, maintains, and inventories department supply stock as required.
4. Records, types, copies, and distributes correspondence as needed.
5. Maintains and processes policies, procedures, financial statistics, quality records and other departmental documents as needed. Assists in preparation for surveys.
6. Inputs data into computer system, compiles reports, and assists department members on projects as required.
7. Contacts outside sources to resolve any issues or questions that may arise during the course of their work.
8. Adheres to dress code.
9. Functions as a preceptor to orient new employees.
10. Meets all departmental specific competencies.
11. Adheres to medical center policies addressing infection control, safety, and personnel guidelines.
12. Demonstrates knowledge of and compliance with the medical center code of conduct and applicable corporate policies and procedures.
13. Maintains patient confidentiality and treats patients and families with respect and dignity.
14. Performs other related duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Basic Office equipment skills are required.
Computer Skills including:
1.Turn your personal computer on and off.
2. Recognize the four major part of the computer.
3. Identify and explain the use of the four parts of the standard keyboard.
4. Recognize the mouse and understand how to use it.
5. Open and close a program using Windows 95.
6. Recognize and understand the operator panel of a printer.
7. Load Paper.
Attention to detail and accuracy important. Must be able to type 40 wpm.
EDUCATION AND LICENSURE:
A high school diploma or equivalency is required.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Works in a well-lighted business office environment the majority of the time
There is a potential for being at risk of exposure to hazardous chemicals when working. Information regarding hazards and protective measures along with training on handling and storage of hazardous materials will be provided prior to initial assignment to work with hazardous chemicals, whenever the hazard changes, and on an annual basis.
