Responsibilities
- The Supervising Senior is typically responsible for senioring larger more complex engagements and may also manage two or more engagements simultaneously. Supervising seniors assume responsibility for supervising engagements and special assignments, can review working papers and financial statements, and can communicate with clients on a one-on-one basis. Supervising Seniors are responsible for complying with pronouncements of professional and other regulatory groups. Assumes full responsibility for supervising engagements and special assignments using established firm policies and procedures. Coordinates various phases of engagements, plans engagements, budgets time and expenses, monitors actual performance against budget, reviews working papers for accuracy and completeness, and reviews financial statements for suitability of presentation and adequacy of disclosures. Resolves accounting and auditing problems as they arise. Provides supervision and on-the-job training to staff assigned to engagement. Studies and evaluates clients' internal controls. Assigns work to staff members based on their knowledge and capabilities. Supports training of staff members, offers guidance and direction, gives constructive criticism of working papers. Ensures that working papers, financial statements, tax returns, and letters of recommendations are prepared in accordance with generally accepted professional and firm standards. Communicates engagement's progress, problems, resolutions, financial information, tax activity and other business concerns to the client. Reviews with manager or partner significant findings that raise questions involving accounting principles or statement presentation. Prepares or reviews financial statements, notes, schedules, management letters, and tax returns for later discussion between manager or partner and the client. Prepares staff evaluation reports. Serves in educational programs as an instructor or discussion leader. Participates in firm's practice development efforts including expanding services to clients. Prepares other reports and projects as requested from time to time by managers or partners. Leads a team on assigned engagements, instructs them in work to be performed, reviews work done and directs necessary revisions. Participates in the development and training of other professionals. Such other duties as may be assigned.
Qualifications
- THIS POSITION REQUIRES A BACHELOR’S DEGREE (OR FOREIGN EQUIVALENT) IN ACCOUNTING, FINANCE, OR CLOSELY RELATED FIELD, PLUS 5 YEARS OF WORK EXPERIENCE IN THE JOB OFFERED, OR CLOSELY RELATED OCCUPATION.
- IN THE ALTERNATIVE, THE EMPLOYER WILL ACCEPT A MASTER’S DEGREE (OR FOREIGN EQUIVALENT) IN ACCOUNTING, FINANCE, OR CLOSELY RELATED FIELD, PLUS 3 YEARS OF WORK EXPERIENCE IN THE JOB OFFERED, OR CLOSELY RELATED OCCUPATION.
- Special Requirements:
- EXPERTISE/ KNOWLEDGE OF:
- 1. Knowledge of signs of fraud or breaches in compliance.
- 2. Ability to document findings clearly and concisely including writing audit reports, memos, and other documentation.
- 3. Experience in data analysis tools and techniques, including auditing software such as ACL, IDEA, or other specialized tools helps in automating and streamlining the audit process.
- 4. Knowledge of financial software like SAP, Oracle, or QuickBooks for understanding and auditing financial records.
- 5. Experience in Excel and Word, including VLOOKUP, and preparation of financials in Excel with linking.
- 6. Experience with audit software like CaseWare and ProSystem Engagement for audit planning, testing and preparation of financial statement.
- 7. Experience with accounting software including QuickBooks, Sage Intacct, RealPage, and other accounting ERP systems.
- 8. Demonstrated knowledge of current audit pronouncements including Not-for profit, EBP plans, HUD audits.
- 9. Understanding of accrual basis accounting and GAAP.
- 10. Experience with drafting financial statements in accordance with US GAAP.
- 11. Well-developed and applied management and advisory review skills.
