The opportunity

Hitachi Energy is now looking for a Commissioning Engineer in Finland. You will be part of a dedicated and skilled commissioning team within our Grid Integration business - Nordic Cluster (Finland, Sweden and Denmark). As a commissioning engineer, you are accountable for pre-commissioning and commissioning activities in our projects (e.g. HV substations for utilities, industry, data centers, etc.). You will also have opportunities to improve our quality and cost footprint by contributing to the base design platform, our commissioning and engineering processes, and tools.

We are interested to learn more about you and what you can contribute with, so don’t hesitate to apply even though you don’t meet all requirements. Since we are delivering a variety of interesting projects in substation business (within Finland, Sweden and Denmark, and some export projects also), this gives you opportunity to try and prove yourself in different engineering roles and to have a good balance between office and site works, travelling, and your private life.

How you'll make an impact

  • Perform the testing and commissioning of HV & MV Substations, including HV/MV switchgears, power and aux transformers, AC & DC auxiliary systems, control & protection systems, etc.
  • Take part in pre-commissioning meeting, commissioning planning activities and documentation preparation (e.g. FAT documentation, Site ITPs & ITRs, Method Statements, Control programs, etc.).
  • Organize and perform FAT of C&P equipment in our test lab.
  • Follow the instructions of electrical safety and other HSE instructions in accordance with Hitachi/customer requirements.
  • Coordinate on-site commissioning activities together with Project Manager, Site Manager and Project Manager Engineering and other functions involved.
  • Support tendering by providing commissioning plan and time/cost estimation.
  • Act as commissioning leader/manager in particular projects, if appointed.

Your background

  • A bachelor’s degree or above in the area of electrical engineering or similar
  • A few years of working experience with commissioning of substations.
  • Strong competence on the on-site testing of key components in substation.
  • Experience in settings/configuring and testing of the relay protection (e.g. RET, RED, REB, REF series, or other vendors IEDs).
  • Experience in commissioning of data centers substations is a plus (e.g. Microsoft, Google, Apple).
  • Experience and knowledge of testing in digital substations according to IEC 61850 is a plus.
  • Experience in substation secondary design role, or as PME (Lead engineer) role is a plus.
  • Experience in substation engineering projects from tendering stage all the way to FAT testing and on-site implementation – SAT.
  • You have a strong sense of safety, quality and responsibility and are willing to share knowledge & experience.
  • You are fluent in Finnish and English written and spoken alike.

Are you ready for an exciting new challenge? Does the above description sound like you? Welcome to apply and join our Nordic Cluster commissioning team. Apply for the position by July 31, 2025.
