Summer School Social Skills/Counseling Group Leader for ESY Program

Hours: 8:15am-2:15pm
Daily rate of pay (contingent upon enrollment and funding)
Under direction of the School Principal and/or appropriate Manager of Specialized Instruction and Service the Psychologist or Social Worker will lead the high school and transition level social groups and individual/group counseling. The group leader will be supported by the Social Coach for the high school and transition level groups. All services will be consistent with the Extended School Year (ESY) services detailed in the students Individual Educational Plan (IEP).

- PK-12 Social Worker or
- PK-12 School Psychologist
ESL Preferred
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS STANDARDS:
- CAGS/BCBA (For Psychologist)
- Discipline Specific RIDE Certification
- Working Knowledge of Social Perspective Taking, Zones of Regulation, 5 Point Scale, Theory of Mind, Social Thinking, Expected/Unexpected Behaviors and Size of the Problem.
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES AND CURRICULAR LINKAGES:
- Provide individual and group counseling services for students including social skills training and crisis intervention
- Provide individual or group counseling support to aid student’s social and academic adjustment as it pertains to assisting students in accessing education
- Develop Social Skills activities into which social perspective taking and social thinking are embedded
- Identify and order necessary materials to implement social activities
- Develop interventions to address social skills deficits within the program
- Identify and implement strategies to address anxiety with the social group
- Provide direct social skills services to students consistent with IEP requirements
- Direct paraprofessional staff for active engagement in activities with students
- Provide consultation to classroom teachers for carry-over activities
- Provide written reports on services provided and/or progress notes as required by the Office of Specialized Instruction and Services
- Willingness to work as an itinerant to cover all components of this assignment
- Willingness to work with families on carry-over activities for the home setting
- Documentation of services for Medicaid purposes
- Implement safety plans created by support personnel and teachers, prior to the end of the 180-day school year
- Develop and modify safety plans for students in the Autism ESY program
- Makes contact with the student's family/caregiver, a minimum of once a week, to provide an informal update on students’ progress and offer assistance with coordination of community based support and services, as needed.
