Educational and Experience Requirement
Associates degree in related field. Three years relevant administrative assistant experience or experience in a related field. A combination of education, experience, and training that would produce the required knowledge and abilities could be considered.
Nature & Purpose of Position
Performs advanced administrative assistant duties for the Department of Chemistry.
Primary Responsibilities
Performs advanced administrative assistant duties and routine clerical duties. Provides departmental or university information to students, departments, and staff. Interprets policies and procedures. Compiles, tracks, and reviews data and reports. Prepares, reviews, revises and distributes documents and correspondence. Responsible for department travel coordination, input of facilities work orders, assists with the student hiring process, processes student declaration of major forms, and enters scholarship disbursements. Assists with updating department website and bulletin boards. Assists faculty with rosters, textbook ordering, uploading syllabi/vita, and monitors FAEV (Federal Aid Eligibility Validation) to make sure it is complete. Helps coordinate lab manual ordering, and manages lab keyboards and replacement of keys as needed. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Demonstrates personal initiative and abilities to deal with a rapidly changing environment. Requires a general knowledge of standard office functions. Requires good knowledge of procedures and practices. Must be able to use standard office software. Must be able to apply policies and procedures and solve routine problems of a repetitive nature.
Up to 20% of this position, over the fiscal year during off-peak periods, may be performed remotely as determined by the supervisor.
