Educational and Experience Requirement
Bachelor’s degree in related field is required. Three years of administrative, registrar, managerial office, experience in a college or university setting, or experience in a related field. A combination of education, experience, and training that would produce the required knowledge and abilities could be considered.
Must be a current Sam Houston State University employee in order to be considered for this position.
Nature & Purpose of Position
Plans, organizes, and directs day-to-day operations of a department with the oversight of the Registrar. Performs highly complex managerial work providing direction and guidance in strategic operations and planning in the Registrar department.
Primary Responsibilities
Assists with all aspects of the registration process for special populations in collaboration with the Enrollment Process Team. Maintains and assists with updates to student records in adherence with state and federal regulations. Prepares, reviews, revises, and distributes relevant documents, manuals, and correspondence surrounding Polytechnic College and other special populations on behalf of the Registrar’s Office, with Registrar approval. Supports the strategic vision and objectives for class scheduling, state and educational processes, and curriculum development through course build and other functional needs in the development of the Polytechnic College and other special populations identified. Coordinates and assists with the creation and maintenance of academic courses in the university’s system, ensuring accurate catalog and course information. Attends regular meetings on the development of Polytechnic College and reports summaries of action items, timelines, and possibly challenges to Registrar on a regular schedule (e.g., weekly, daily). Works collaboratively with all Registrar teams to ensure appropriate creation and maintenance of the Polytechnic College processes/procedures and other special populations. Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with a various group of stakeholders internal to the institution. Recommends internal policies and procedures to enhance operational effectiveness and efficiency. Serves as a liaison between the Registrar’s Office and campus regarding Polytechnic College workgroups, meetings, and other special populations. Designs, schedules, and leads specialized internal and external training. Reviews and approves documentation relating to needs specific to assigned areas. Understands department’s role in accomplishing the University’s mission. Complies with all State and University policies. Acts as liaison between department and internal or external customers. Participates in various committees, professional training, industry conferences, and conventions. Performs other related duties as assigned to support the mission and objectives of the Registrar’s Office and the university community.

Ability to supervise business functions. Communicates with other university departments, personnel, and other agencies.
Works occasional periods outside regular working hours to support students, Registrar functions, and the university.
Up to 40% of this position, over the fiscal year during off-peak periods, may be performed remotely as determined by the supervisor after 6 month review.
