As director of engineering at Gallup, you’ll lead the managers and teams behind Gallup Access to transform how organizations understand and improve their workplaces. What You’ll Do

  • Direct the design, architecture and delivery of the Gallup Access platform
  • Translate product requirements into technical road maps
  • Lead engineering managers and senior engineers and oversee the team’s resourcing and performance management strategy
  • Evaluate, mentor and guide the career development of senior engineering talent
  • Operationalize the Product Operating Model, and collaborate closely with product, design and data teams to ship solutions that are technically sound and user-centric
  • Guide our push into next-generation reporting and business intelligence, with a focus on search and generative AI
  • Oversee design, development and maintenance of scalable data pipeline and architectures for batch and real-time processing
  • Own data governance to ensure our data are high-quality, secure and handled responsibly
  • Define and track measurement systems that reflect engineering’s impact on revenue growth, product success and client satisfaction
  • Build strong feedback loops and stakeholder relationships
  • Stay current with trends in data engineering, cloud computing, AI and machine learning

What You Need

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering or a related field required
  • At least eight years of software engineering experience required
  • At least five years leading engineers in a Product Operating Model required
  • At least five years managing engineering teams of 12 or more people required
  • At least one year of leadership experience as a manager of managers required
  • Proven ability to solve complex data processing challenges required
  • Experience building and running big cloud data systems required; AWS is a plus
  • Ability to align engineering work to customer value and business outcomes required
  • Must live within a 60-mile radius of San Francisco
  • Availability to travel to Gallup’s Omaha, Nebraska, office 25% of the time required
  • When not traveling, a commitment to working on-site at a local Gallup workspace in San Francisco at least three days a week required

Gallup offers a robust benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, life and other insurance options; a fully vested 401(k) retirement savings plan with company matching; an employee stock ownership program; mass transit reimbursement; family-building benefits; an employee assistance program; and various reimbursements and activities that enhance our associates’ wellbeing. We also offer an estimated annual salary range of $200,000-$250,000 for this role. Salaries are based on a variety of factors, including an individual’s education, experience and skills.
