Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Medical Biller/Coder to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for accurately coding medical procedures and diagnoses, submitting insurance claims, and ensuring proper reimbursement for services rendered.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review and analyze patient records to determine proper coding of diagnoses and procedures.
- Assign CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS codes accurately for services provided.
- Submit claims to insurance companies and follow up on unpaid or rejected claims.
- Work with insurance providers to resolve claim discrepancies or denials.
- Verify insurance coverage and obtain necessary pre-authorizations.
- Maintain strict patient confidentiality and comply with all HIPAA regulations.
- Collaborate with physicians and medical staff to clarify documentation.
- Maintain updated knowledge of coding guidelines, insurance requirements, and billing software.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required; associate degree in medical billing/coding or related field preferred.
- Certification (CPC, CCS, or equivalent) required or in progress.
- 1–2 years of experience in medical billing and coding preferred.
- Proficiency with billing software and EHR systems (e.g., Epic, Kareo, Athena).
- Knowledge of insurance guidelines including Medicare, Medicaid, and private payers.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
