Overview:

As a Port and Cargo Operations Supervisor you will coordinate and direct activities related to the discharge and loading of Wallenius Wilhelmsen vessels in the Port of Baltimore.

Job Description

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Oversee and supervise RoRo vessel cargo operations
  • Direct stevedores to ensure compliance with all WW cargo handling, lashing, and quality standards, and adherence to stowage requirements
  • Develop and refine labor work sequences with stevedores to enhance operational efficiency and meet scheduling goals.
  • Monitor cargo operations, track productivity, and implement necessary changes to maintain vessel timelines and service quality.
  • Coordinate and communicate with vessels, stevedores, voyage operators, stakeholders, and terminal to optimize performance and meet vessel service.
  • Maintain clear communication with Vessel Planners and internal teams to ensure proper cargo stowage and resolve issues in real time.
  • Review labor slips and invoices for accuracy and collaborate with internal departments to support continuous process and team improvements.

Job Requirements

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

  • Strong knowledge of vessel and terminal operations
  • Availability/flexibility to work a continuously varying schedule; days, weekends, evenings, and select holidays as required.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple responsibilities and adapt to rapidly changing priorities
  • Computer competence includes proficiency with Word, Excel, and database navigation skills.
  • Must be physically able to move about the port/terminal and ship’s cargo areas, remain on your feet for extended periods, ascend/descend ramps and ladder wells on vessels, and work around hazardous equipment where conditions can be very loud, dirty/greasy, and temperatures vary to extremes.

EVEN BETTER IF YOU HAVE

  • Supervisory experience that includes scheduling and labor complexities.
  • 3+ yrs. planning and directing operations
  • Stevedoring experience
  • Maritime/College degree and/or commercial maritime experience.
  • Technical knowledge related to cargo operations, vessel specifications, and industry terminology.
