Overview

This position is responsible for the effective daily coordination and monitoring of Patient Transportation & Environmental Services / Linen (EVS/LINEN) workflows in a hospital environment through timely and accurate answering of service request telephone calls, timely and accurate dispatching of Transport & EVS/LINEN requests, the efficient assignment of personnel utilizing company applications and all associated records keeping and reporting as directed. In addition, this position will ensure positive patient, client, and team member satisfaction by providing excellent customer service. This position possesses the supervisory authority limited to directing the work and break cycles and daily activities of Patient Transporters, Housekeepers, Lift Team Technicians, Floor Care Technicians, Waste Stream Technicians, Elevator Operators, Equipment Technicians (Bed Man), Specimen Couriers, and other team members of the Transport and EVS/LINEN Departments.

Qualifications

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS::High school diploma or equivalent. Prior related experience in transport, dispatch or hospital environment preferred. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONSLanguage Skills:Excellent interpersonal skills necessary to interact, motivate and communicate with a wide range of staff and hospital personnel in a professional manner; guest relations skills must be strong, genuine and noticeable. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other associates of the facility.Computer Based Skills:Basic computer skills utilizing a Windows-based Operating System. Ability to troubleshoot system problems related to computer or software systems and initiate internal or external resolution to system issues.Problem Solving and Reasoning Skills:Analytical ability to constantly evaluate task and personnel status; interpret demand and response times in accordance with patient acuity and personnel availability. Mental ability to provide excellent judgment for problem solving related to response time and performance of associates coordination of activities related to Patient Transportation Services; enforcement of policies under emergency or stressful situations.Must Be Able To:Communicate clearly, both written and verbally. Perform basic computing operations, including but not limited to: Data entry and web navigation. Concentrate and pay attention for periods of time up to eight (8) hours. Diagnose and solve problems. Prioritize and work on many different tasks at the same time. Constantly moves about, stoops, bends, reaches in any direction and kneels. Frequently lifts 30 lb. Objects from one level to another. Push, pull and lift 50 pounds. Respond to emergency signals and indicators.Walk, climb stairs and ladders. Must be able to adapt well to changes.Motor Vehicle Operator Designation (Required): (Refer to CP 1.51):Employees in this position:Will not operate vehicles for an assigned business purpose.NOTE: A frequent driver is defined as one who uses his/her personal or University of Florida Health automobile a) at least once daily, b) at least five individual trips per week or c) drives, on average, over 150 miles per week in the performance of his/her job.
