DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:
- The Clinical Nurse Educator provides a variety of teaching for staff, patients, families and the community. The focus areas are staff education, patient/family education, and community education.
SUPERVISION: Reports directly to Director of Education and Nursing Excellence
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Coordinates and participates in the orientation process of new employees.
- Coordinates and maintains patient/family/staff education programs.
- Coordinates and participates in community/screening programs.
- Collaborates with other departments/disciplines to identify education opportunities to improve quality of care.
- Participates in the development and revision of policies and procedures for Patient Care Services.
- Evaluates educational offerings and tools for effectiveness and timeliness.
- Creates & implement evidence based education opportunities to staff of various disciplines & assist in integration.

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
- Must be adaptable to change, be decisive, and demonstrate foresight.
- Exhibits organizational and leadership ability.
- BSN required. MSN preferred.
- Minimum 2 years clinical experience
- Ability to communicate with patient, family, peers and medical personnel
- Current RN License in Louisiana or multi-state compact license.
- BLS, PALS, ACLS Instructor Preferred
Physical Demands/Work Environment
- Work requires a variety of physical activities such as standing, walking, bending, stooping or sitting for long periods of time.
- Must have normal hearing or utilize adaptive hearing devices.
