In our central research department for White Biotechnology, we develop innovative solutions to tackle global challenges across various sectors, including agriculture, feed, food, and care chemicals. Our diverse team brings together expertise in strain engineering, microbiology, protein biochemistry, biocatalysis, fermentation, and bioprocess engineering, among others. We are seeking a highly motivated and results-oriented biologist to join our team. As a Post-Doctoral Scientist, you will be part of our interdisciplinary group developing microbial solutions for industrial applications. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in the area of methanol-based fermentations and microbial physiology.

  • Your role will involve cultivating methanol utilizing microorganisms and evaluating their potential for the production of various target molecules.
  • Collaboratively, you will plan, coordinate, and execute experiments to benchmark methanol-consuming microorganisms, including necessary safety assessments.
  • You will participate in IP, competitor, and literature analysis to create an overview of the state-of-the-art in methanol fermentation.
  • In cooperation with other scientists in the department, internal service providers, and external partners, you will have the opportunity to experience research in an industrial environment.

WHAT YOU OFFER

  • doctoral degree in biological sciences or a related field with focus on microbiology with excellent final grades
  • extensive practical experience with cultivating microorganisms of different kinds (e.g. bacteria, yeast) on methanol
  • a deep understanding of microbial metabolic pathways and microbial physiology
  • strong communication skills in German as well as English and the ability to work as part of interdisciplinary teams
