JOB TITLE: Aircraft Structural Mechanic I

Qualifying Questions:

Summary:
- Assemble and fit detail parts and structures; perform drilling and riveting operations
- Ensure all work meets FAA requirements, customer specifications, and quality standards
- Rivet structural assemblies using all necessary tools (e.g., riveting guns, pneumatic drills, countersinks, files, reamers)
- Read and interpret work orders, blueprints, sketches, and operation sheets
- Verify completed assemblies are defect-free prior to final inspection
- Accurately log work in resource planning systems (e.g., MIR sheets, DMTs, PCOs)
- Align and assemble parts using jigs, fixtures, clamps, and other tools
- Maintain a clean, organized work area and support 5S and safety initiatives
- Work under moderate supervision and support Lean manufacturing activities
- Participate in continuous improvement efforts (e.g., YIAW, Kaizen events)
- Maintain proper care of tools and equipment
- Follow all safety procedures and shop policies
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Minimum 1 year of structural assembly experience
- Experience with Solumina and Smarteam preferred
- One year of experience credit may be given to graduates of the Savannah Tech Aircraft Structures Technical Certificate Program
- Basic knowledge of aircraft structures, sheet metal work, and fabrication techniques
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and use a 6" scale
- Basic computer and shop math skills
- Ability to comprehend technical documents and instructions
- Strong attention to detail and a professional, hands-on work ethic
- Must demonstrate good housekeeping and safety practices
- Ability to work with composite resins and materials
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
- Ability to climb ladders, stands, and stairs, and work in confined or restricted areas
- Must be able to work any shift
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English
- Must be a U.S. Person (as defined by ITAR).
