Position Description:

Develops software applications using Java, Spring, RESTful services, Amazon Web Services (AWS), and Microsoft Azure. Supports event driven and service-oriented processing. Delivers high quality, timely, cost effective and maintainable software solutions in an Agile environment. Develops software to meet functional and non-functional business requirements. Develops software applications using Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) methodologies. Supports the design and implementation of software engineering practices -- code and design reviews, cloud strategy, and build and deployment pipelines. Works with product owners, squad leads and architects on a frequent, recurring basis to design and influence technical improvements to the platform, team, and direction. Provides business solutions by developing complex or multiple software applications.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Develops original and creative technical solutions to on-going development efforts.
• Designs applications or subsystems on major projects and for/in multiple platforms.
• Develops applications for multiple projects supporting several divisional initiatives.
• Supports and performs all phases of testing leading to implementation.
• Assists in the planning and conducting of user acceptance testing.
• Develops comprehensive documentation for multiple applications supporting several corporate initiatives.
• Responsible for post-installation testing of any problems.
• Establishes project plans for projects of moderate scope.
• Works on complex assignments and often multiple phases of a project.
• Performs independent and complex technical and functional analysis for multiple projects supporting several initiatives.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Applied Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and three (3) years of experience as a Senior Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) developing web-based applications and APIs (Application Programming Interfaces) using Java based technologies.

Or, alternatively, Master’s degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Applied Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and one (1) year of experience as a Senior Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) developing web-based applications and APIs (Application Programming Interfaces) using Java based technologies.

Skills and Knowledge:

Candidate must also possess:

• Demonstrated Expertise (“DE”) writing microservice applications for complex enterprise systems, using Web and distributed technologies – Spring frameworks, SOAP/REST, myBatis, and Hibernate.
• DE building Java based applications according to Agile methodologies, using Eclipse, Spring tool suite (STS), and in-memory databases -- KDB database; building electronic trading applications using Jenkins, Maven, and SONAR; and containerizing in private (PCF and Rancher) or public Cloud (Oracle CI, AWS), using Kubernetes and Docker.
• DE performing analysis, design, development, testing, deployment, maintenance, and support of enterprise applications, using IBM Rational Application Developer, JMS, IBM MQ, low latency messaging, and Datadog.
• DE automating manual operations, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and deployments, using Urban Code Deploy (Udeploy); and building and maintaining Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipelines for application code, using JenkinsCore, Bitbucket, Artifactory, Concourse, KConnect, and Terraform.
