WeRIDE Microtransit Driver - Full-Time

WeRIDE provides public transportation to the residents of Avondale, Goodyear, Surprise and Peoria. Each day our Professional Operators transport individuals who rely on our service to doctors’ appointments, work, grocery stores, and much, much more! As a Microtransit Operator, you would provide our clients with the freedom and independence of reliable, safe transportation. This is a part-time or full-time role that requires excellent customer service, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to safety. Schedule flexibility is essential—shifts may include early mornings, evenings, and weekends, and are assigned based on service demand and seniority. Competitive compensation package of minimum $20.00 – maximum $21.00

Full Time Operators will be eligible for the first of the month after accepting a full-time role.

• Schedule is determined after training is completed.

Key Responsibilities:

• Safety-Focused Operations: Execute flawless operations by meticulously following designated routes and schedules, while adhering to stringent safety protocols and traffic regulations.
• Passenger Care: Exhibit exceptional care and assistance towards passengers, ensuring smooth boarding, comfortable rides, and timely disembarkation for all.
• Vehicle Vigilance: Champion vehicle safety through comprehensive pre-trip and post-trip inspections, promptly reporting any maintenance issues, and maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and safety equipment readiness.
• Adherence to Protocols: Uphold company policies and procedures rigorously, encompassing seat belt enforcement, emergency response preparedness, and compliance with regulatory mandates.
• Operates wheelchair lift when necessary and secures passengers in accordance with company requirements.
• Operates 2-way radio and Mobile Data Terminal (MDT) to communicate with Dispatch to report accidents, emergencies, schedule delays, equipment failure and/or unusual circumstances.
• Transports passengers to and from designated virtual stop locations and regional fixed route transfer points as assigned throughout each service zone
• Collects cash fares as required and understands the overall fare structure as it relates to the direct service and connecting transit services. Records all fares appropriately.
• Provides information to passengers regarding the Microtransit service and connecting transit services.
• Opens the door for passengers at all pickup and drop-off locations.
• Documents a visual pre- and post-trip inspection via the Operator's Daily Report form.
• Required to fuel and clean the assigned vehicle daily.
• Other duties as required

Schedule Flexibility Required:

We are looking for candidates who can demonstrate flexibility with their work schedule. Final schedules will be assigned only after successful completion of training. As you near the end of training, you will have the opportunity to review and select from available full-time or part-time schedules. Shifts may fall between 5:00 AM – 9:00 PM, Monday through Friday, and 7:00 AM – 6:00 PM on Saturdays, and may be assigned at either our Goodyear or Surprise locations. Flexibility is essential to meet the needs of our service and customers.

Training Requirements:

The Student Operator is required to report for duty as required throughout the entire training process. Training will be inclusive of a full-time schedule lasting 2 to 3 weeks, which may include early mornings, evenings, and weekends based on instructor availability. Students who are unable to fulfill this requirement will be disqualified from the position.

Qualifications:

• Excellent verbal communication skills
• Must be 21 years of age or older.
• Have held a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record for at least 3 years.
• All applicants are subject to a drug test and physical.

Knowledge of:

• Microtransit, fixed route, or paratransit services.
• Maricopa County, specifically the West Phoenix Cities.
• Defensive driving and safe vehicle operation.

Physical Requirements: The essential functions of this position require the ability to:

• Work outside in varying temperature, weather, and humidity conditions-100% of the job is performed outside, work alone and in remote locations.
• Sit for extended periods (up to 6–8 hours per day); frequently walk for long distances and on possible sloped ground or slippery and uneven surfaces
• Push and pull objects up to 50 pounds, occasionally throughout the workday; lift material weighing up to 50 lbs. with or without assistance; occasionally bend, kneel, or crouch to files or equipment stored at ground level
• Withstand heavy traffic areas while performing the duties of the job; tolerate exposure to considerable amounts of dust, vehicle fumes and noise.
