This is a managerial and supervisory position that oversees work in the Asphalt Studies Lab within our Materials Division’s Laboratory Testing Section. In this position, you will manage technical employees who perform testing of asphalt and related materials used in highway construction projects. You will be expected to approve test results and assist in resolving problems related to the interpretation of specifications and plans. Our team will rely on you to be responsible for all testing, analysis, research, specification, and policy development within the Asphalt Studies Lab, as well as for developing or establishing the standards for asphalt related material sample testing and analysis. This includes verifying that the correct testing procedures were followed and ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and continual improvement of work.
Your responsibilities will involve communicating effectively with PennDOT, its partners, and internal teams. You will interact directly with suppliers and internal and external customers to ensure the lab is meeting the needs and expectations of its customers or business partners; liaise with professional associations and statewide teams regarding asphalt and pavement; and present information to groups of various sizes.
