Job Story

The NIAR ATLAS lab is seeking a student assistant to assist with AFP programming.

Job Summary

A student assistant will carry out administrative and technical tasks requested by a supervisor. Depending on the area the student assistant is employed in, they may assist and mentor other students or provide support throughout the campus in various forms.

Job Duties

Creating and documenting part programs for additive manufacturing equipment.

Using programming software such as:

  • CGTech Vericut Composite Programming / Simulation
  • Coriolis CATFiber
  • Mikrosam Mikroplace
  • Siemens NX

Reading and understanding design specifications and drawings.

Interfacing with the AFP team to diagnose issues and update programs.

Required Education

High school diploma or equivalent

Job Requirements

Currently a student at Wichita State University majoring in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field. CAD familiarity strongly preferred (CATIA, 3DE, NX, etc.)

Ability to read part drawings or design documents.

Willingness to learn complex machine functions and troubleshooting.

Physical Requirements

Ability to remain in a stationary position.

Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment, including but not limited to phones, printers, copiers, and calculators.

Ability to communicate with others and accurately exchange information.
