The Impact of Your Role

As Director of Epidemiology at Ipsos, you will play a pivotal role in shaping our understanding of disease markets. You will leverage your expertise to generate scientifically rigorous estimates of disease incidence, prevalence, and population size. Your insights will inform strategic decisions, drive innovation in epidemiological methodologies, and contribute to the development of effective treatments across various disease areas. You will be responsible for overseeing projects of significant size and complexity, contributing to the growth and reputation of Ipsos within the healthcare industry.

Your Day to Day

These are the types of things you can expect to be doing during your day to day, although as Ipsos is a dynamic organisation, this may vary as different opportunities arise:

  • Overseeing comprehensive reviews of epidemiological literature and relevant databases.
  • Directing the generation of accurate disease estimates.
  • Leading the development of innovative epidemiological models.
  • Guiding the analysis and interpretation of data from various sources, including Primary Market Research (PMR).
  • Providing statistical guidance and rigorous scientific standards.
  • Collaborating with project teams and communicating resource requirements.
  • Presenting findings and recommendations to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Identifying and pursuing new business opportunities.
  • Contributing to thought leadership through publications and presentations.
  • Work cross-functionally to support improvements in patient projections across multiple disease indications.
  • Participating in wider Ipsos initiatives (e.g., CSR, D&I).

Ipsos UK offers a hybrid working environment, 3 days in the office and working the rest from home.

About You

Background:

These are the areas of knowledge and expertise that matter most for this role.

  • Extensive experience in healthcare, public health, or related fields, interpreting primary and secondary market research.
  • Experience in epidemiological modelling, including patient-based models, simulation, and data visualisation.
  • Advanced degree (MPH, MS in Biostatistics, or PhD) with a focus in epidemiology or a related discipline.
  • Publication history in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Ministry of Health experience (or equivalent).
  • Clinical trial knowledge
  • Oncology experience preferred.
  • Relevant coursework and experience in experimental design.

Skills:

  • Proficiency in statistical packages (SAS, STATA, etc.)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced Excel modelling skills.
  • Understanding of advanced statistical techniques (matching, regression, meta-analysis).
  • Working knowledge of secondary databases (e.g., surveys, EMRs).
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, including communicating statistical concepts clearly.
  • Expertise in data management and cleaning techniques
  • Strong understanding of AI tools and technologies and how they can be applied to market research and consumer insights.
