Under general supervision of the medical director or designee to provide comprehensive evaluation and treatment of sleep disorders, including in center and home sleep apnea testing, diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, comprehensive patient care and direct patient education. Performs a wide variety of polysomnographic studies in the Sleep Disorder Center (SDC) to include (but not limited to): Routine NPSG's, MSLT's, MWT's,parasomnia studies, seizure studies, RBD studies, HSAT's, PAP and oxygen titration, and advanced PAP therapy, ie. Auto SV,AVAPS, etc., and ensures collection of appropriate data for each. Analyzes data, scores polysomnograms (PSGs), and HSAT's and compiles data into reports for physician review. The position is crendentialed in sleep technology and is able to provide oversight of other sleep center staff if needed. The position is considered the expert in the field of sleep medicine and can help provide education and training to other non-credentialed staff. Sleep technicians and trainees can work under the direct supervision of the credentialed sleep technologist and/or the medical director.

Qualifications

  • High School graduate or equivalent required. Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) or CRT SDS or RRT SDS or CRT or RRT must have SDS within one year from hire date. Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) Certification.Knowledge of polysomnography and electroencephalography (EEG). Knowledge of EEG and polysomnographic equipment. Knowledge of HIPAA standards and regulations. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills. The ability to communicate effectively with patients, guest, and hospital personnel. The ability to show compassion and sensitivity for patient comfort. The ability to maintain confidentiality.Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT), or equivalent (RST, etc,)
