The Business Analyst manages the accounting, budgeting, and financial operations for the Bergen Generating Station, a 1,250 MW gas-fired power plant in New Jersey. This role requires a proactive, detail-oriented professional with a strong ability to manage complex financial functions and support plant operations effectively.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate corporate policies, contracts, and files.
- Oversee accounts payable, monthly accounting close, and financial reporting.
- Develop and manage O&M and Capital budgets, ensuring accurate tracking and variance analysis.
- Collaborate with plant staff and management on budgeting and cost tracking for projects.
- Serve as the primary financial contact for the Asset Manager.
- Provide financial analyses, forecasts, and trend reporting.
- Manage audits, inquiries, and compliance with government regulations.
- Support procurement processes and administrative financial controls.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent experience.
- 3-5 years expertise in accounting, budgeting, and financial management.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and familiarity with financial systems.
- Strong organizational, communication, and time-management abilities.
- Experience with large data sets and accounting software.
Preferred Qualifications
- Root Cause Analysis (RCA) knowledge
- Experience in Operational Excellence planning
- Ability to identify, track, and communicate KPIs
- Familiarity with SharePoint
- Background in power plant operations or maintenance
- Knowledge of Hexagon (EAM) and Great Plains financial systems
