Carpenter

Facilities Services Operations & Maintenance

Location: New Orleans, LA

Summary

Under supervision and using tools and materials for general carpentry, perform repairs, new installations, and preventive maintenance according to industry standards in the trade. The Carpenter will perform a full range of rough and finished skilled carpentry work, including fabrication and/or assembly of furniture, doors, cabinets and counter tops, and installation of trim and wall accessories. Perform other tasks by assisting all other trades as directed and perform general maintenance tasks.

This is an Essential Personnel position, which can require that the incumbent must report for duty and work through emergencies, and also can be designated by the supervisor as essential for the accomplishment of work, or for the completion of a critical task.

Required Education and/or Experience

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in construction of various door systems in walls and both sheet rock and suspended acoustical ceiling tiles.
  • Experience in mill work and floor finishing work.

Compensation Information

This position is classified as "non-exempt, hourly" and is assigned to pay grade 23.
