Assistant Supervisor

Facilities Services Operations & Maintenance

Location: New Orleans, LA

Summary

Assists supervisor to oversee the Operations & Maintenance Team's Electrical Shop, its personnel, and electrical subcontractors. Coordinates electrical repairs and renovations for customers, and supports construction projects for electrical installation work at University properties.

This is an Essential Personnel position which can require that the incumbent must report for duty and work through emergencies, and also can be designated by the supervisor as essential for the accomplishment of work, or for the completion of a critical task.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of basic computer maintenance management system (CMMS) programs, e.g., TMA Systems
  • Ability to coordinate and schedule labor and materials for multiple Operations and Maintenance projects
  • Ability to review plans and technical specifications and electrical product data
  • Must exhibit excellent communications skills and project planning and coordination abilities
  • A working knowledge in the understanding of all phases of electrical inspections, maintenance and troubleshooting work. Must be knowledgeable and experienced in electrical installation work per the National Electrical Code
  • Ability and willingness to work nights, weekends, and possibly holidays

Required Education and/or Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Five years related electrical industry experience coordinating work on site
  • Certification: Class D Journeyman Electrical License with the City of New Orleans
  • Must have a valid and unrestricted (not including corrective lens needs) U.S. Driver's license and must meet the Tulane University Motor Vehicle Policy criteria to become authorized as a driver

  • More than five years' related experience
  • More than three years' supervisory experience
  • Project management
  • Personal effectiveness/credibility
  • Initiative

This position is classified as "non-exempt, hourly" and is assigned to pay grade 25.
