I. Job Summary

Under general direction, Auditor Analyst ll is responsible for harnessing the power of data analytics to support audit planning, risk assessment and continuous auditing initiatives. This role will contribute to the department’s strategic initiatives focusing on continuous improvement, cost savings, and increased automation. Audit Analyst team members are expected to work collaboratively with our stakeholders, internal and external to manage projects in all aspects from analysis, design, construction, deployment and support. The key focus areas are risk assessment and review of internal controls, corporate policies, laws and regulations, as they relate to the waste industry. This role provides a great platform to learn about the Company’s business, policies & procedures creating opportunities to grow and develop inside and outside the Internal Audit & Controls (IAC) department.

II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each duty satisfactorily. Other ancillary duties may be assigned.

  • Design and implement comprehensive dashboards and reports using tools such as Power BI and custom scripts to support operational and financial audits, risk assessments, and continuous monitoring activities.
  • Provides technical mentorship and training to auditors across all levels.
  • Build visualization analytics to present scenarios from the data; paint the big picture for management reporting on potential risks and incorporate the ability to drill down to the lowest level while doing root cause analyses.
  • Demonstrate ability to understand data flows and business processes.
  • Utilize programming languages such as Python and R to perform complex data extraction, cleaning, and analysis.
  • Performs high level data analysis; develops complex algorithms and computational solutions as necessary to support the business units of the organization.
  • Assists with project plans, and coordinate resources to accomplish project tasks.
  • Observes current systems/processes and interacts with the appropriate personnel. Utilizing a variety of sources, collects and analyzes information to support modeling and analysis.

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree (accredited), or in lieu of degree, High School Diploma or GED (accredited) and 4 years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience: Three years of relevant work experience (in addition to education requirement).

  • Proven Implementation of Value Adding Data Visualization Design and Best Practices.
  • Experience with ETL Data Preparation – Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) Data with a firm understanding of how to shape datasets using a mixed environment.
  • Ability to quickly analyze, synthesize, and apply information to drive solution-based outcomes. Desires the need to know the “why” through probing questions, moving beyond surface level understanding to get to the foundational ideas concerning a particular issue.
  • Build relationships with stakeholders across the organization to gain an understanding of their key processes/systems and the underlying internal control environment. Has ability to recognize and respond to diverse thinking styles, learning styles and cultural qualities.
