GFT is seeking a Utility Locator to join our Transportation Team in Raleigh, NC!

Responsibilities

What you’ll be challenged to do:

This candidate will work with the SUE Department lead, Project Managers, and Analyst to provide subsurface utility engineering (SUE) activities. Provides quality and efficient fieldwork by interpreting and documenting information related to underground Utilities.

In this capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

  • Responsible for data collection of underground utilities by means of pipe and cable locators, ground penetrating radar, and vacuum excavation.
  • Responsible for communicating between team members both written and verbal
  • Ensures SUE field health and safety compliance in conjunction with supervisors
  • Maintain records, prepare reports and prepares correspondence as needed related to the completion of work assignments.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as required or requested by management.

Qualifications

What you'll bring to our firm:

  • A minimum of 2-3 years SUE or utility location experience.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Valid driver’s license and good driving record.
  • Knowledge of ground penetrating radar, cable locating equipment and vacuum excavation.
  • Strong problem solving skills and ability to make decision in a timely manner
  • Willingness to adhere to policies and procedures as directed by supervision
  • Ability to coordinate and work in a team environment
  • Operate standard office equipment (i.e., personal computer, plotter, facsimile, copy machine, etc.)
  • Actively engages multiple perspectives when solving problems, seeks to learn from peers, and encourages reciprocal learning among team members.
  • Actively advocates for full inclusion in the workplace, fostering an environment that welcomes diversity and values equity for all employees, partners, clients, and the communities that TranSystems serves.

What we prefer you bring:

  • DOT experience is a plus
  • Industrial site experience is a plus
  • Experience in land surveying is a plus

Working Conditions:

  • Work in outdoor environment 90% of the time.
  • Moderate noise level
  • Ability to travel up to 100% of the time.
