Windows System Administrator (MECM)

Location: Falls Church, VA (On-Site)

Clearance: Active DoD Secret clearance upon applying

6-month Contract to hire starting at: $80,000 - $90,000 w/ partial benefits

Full Time Conversion: $90,000 - $100,000 w/ full benefits

Required Qualifications & Skills:

High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Must possess at start date, CompTIA Security+CE certification in active status.
  • Must possess at start date, one of the following certifications:

o Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA)

o CompTIA Linux+

o Linux Foundation Certified System Administrator (LFCS)

  • When 8140 requirements are implemented on contract, candidate will need to conform to 8140 certification standards.
  • 8+ years of overall demonstrated experience as a Windows Workstation/Server Administrator utilizing SCCM/MECM/Intune.
  • Experience with:

o Working with PowerShell scripting engine to automate tasks.

o Installation, configuration, and administration of Windows Systems.

  • Excellent problem solving, analytical, and decision-making capabilities, including understanding user requirements, troubleshooting technical issues, successfully resolving issues and challenges, and developing creative solutions for process improvement.
  • Ability to analyze a high volume of technical data and work in a fast-paced transitional environment, with a broad knowledge of IT operations and systems, and recommend alternative solutions to meet customer needs.
  • Exercise discretion and independent judgment when handling situational occurrences.
  • Dependability, in that the individual is consistently at work and on time, follows instructions, responds to management direction, solicits feedback to improve, and is motivated to self-study new requirements.
  • Strong customer service experience as this position will require candidate to engage with senior military and government leadership.
  • Identify areas of opportunity to improve customer satisfaction and build credibility and trust with customers.
  • Possess the ability to provide knowledge-based training sessions if required.
  • Ability to manage projects or serve as a team leader on an as-needed basis.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills, with strong organizational and collaborative skills.
  • Strong teamwork and engagement as a project team member and participate on cross-functional teams.
  • Please note that pursuant to a government contract, this specific position requires U.S. Citizenship.
  • All applicants must have current DoD Secret clearance day one and prior to entry on duty.

Duties:

  • Provide engineering support to the Enterprise MECM environment, which includes imaging, patching, and software deployment/updates to over 140k endpoints.
  • Provide Tier III support to both NIPR and SIPR MECOM environments in the SOC.
  • Support Workstation and Server Imaging utilizing MECM/Intune.
  • Responsible for applying Microsoft Windows workstation and server patches, hotfixes, and STIGs.
  • Responsible for applying 3-Party Application patches, hotfixes and STIGs.
  • Update and maintain user workstation baseline configuration and administration of operating systems utilizing MECM.
  • Manage and administer MECM client health, including the process of getting clients healthy.
  • Troubleshoot system hardware and software issues.
  • Develop training materials for end users on the proper use of hardware and software.
  • Develop implementation plans for software installations and upgrades to operating systems and layered software packages.
  • Perform In-Place Upgrades as needed for servers and laptops.
  • Monitor and tune systems to achieve optimum performance levels.
  • Conduct advanced hardware and software audits of workstations and servers to ensure compliance with established standards, policies, and configuration guidelines.
  • Assist Asset Manager with quarterly inventory reports for program workstations/peripherals.
  • Provide guidance to junior-level staff, as necessary.
  • Maintain current industry knowledge of relevant concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Participate in all meetings, such as, but not limited to, weekly staff meetings, weekly training, Weekly Ticket Tag-Up, etc.
  • Responsible for handling after-hours on call support, as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
