JOB SUMMARY:

The Store Planner is responsible for creating innovative store layout designs for both remodels and new store projects. This role involves specifying equipment, implementing industry best practices, and offering tailored suggestions based on the unique needs of retailers. The Store Planner collaborates directly with store owners, manufacturing representatives, and General Contractors to ensure seamless project execution.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Design and Layout: Develop grocery store layouts and equipment plans for new stores, remodels, and schematic resets of existing locations within an assigned geographic area. Conduct regular visits to members as requested.
  • Equipment Recommendations: Evaluate and recommend equipment options, overseeing all aspects of equipment procurement and pricing. Compile and distribute accurate specification sheets for operation and installation.
  • Coordination and Communication: Facilitate delivery and installation coordination among retailers, staff, and contractors. Provide detailed plumbing, mechanical, and electrical specification sheets referenced in design drawings.
  • Job Site Verification: Visit job sites to verify plumbing and electrical locations with contractors and owners, ensuring alignment with design specifications.
  • Scheduling: Create and maintain an equipment receiving schedule, adhering to shipping dates according to critical path project management methods.

Position Requirements

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree in business or computer design/drafting preferred.
  • Experience: Two years of post-secondary education in business or computer design/drafting, along with experience in equipment purchasing and pricing, preferred.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel and Word. Must be adaptable to various databases, quoting programs, spreadsheets, and drafting software.
  • Industry Knowledge: Understanding of refrigeration systems, space management, and process workflows specific to operational needs.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present critical information effectively and provide outstanding customer service.
  • Organizational Skills: Strong multitasking ability, managing multiple projects at different stages of completion. Requires sound decision-making skills within established policies and procedures.
  • Analytical Skills: Capable of collecting, measuring, and analyzing diverse data sets, with a strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Travel Flexibility: Willingness and ability to travel based on specific project locations.

Physical/Sensory Demands

  • Travel Requirements: Store Planners typically travel 2-3 days a month, with potential to increase depending on project needs.
  • Site Visits: Will visit job sites during various construction phases and in diverse weather conditions.
  • Working Hours: Standard working hours apply, with flexibility to adjust based on specific project requirements.
