Hilltop Holdings is looking for a Senior Software Developer to apply practical knowledge and perform activities in their area of focus (Hilltop Securities). Centered around an FIS hosted environment and other 3rd party systems, the Software Developer is engaged in all phases of the development lifecycle which includes gathering and analyzing user / business system requirements, responding to outages, and creating application system models to support business operations.
- Develop, test and implement new systems and/or software
- Design and update system/software database (applications, web sites, data communication processes and user interfaces)
- Test, maintain and recommend improvements to ensure strong functionality and optimization
- Install, customize, and integrate system/software packages
- Facilitate root cause analysis of system issues. Work with experienced team members to conduct root cause analysis of issues, review new and existing code and/or perform unit testing
- Identify system performance improvement opportunities and impact and provide recommendations to management
- Resolve complex technical design issues
- Performs medium and long-term tasks and more complex requests and activities
- Regularly uses independent judgement to resolve non-routine issues escalated from junior team members
- Serves as a subject matter expert with technical knowledge and broad understanding of their field
- Influences junior team members by providing advanced understanding and guidance of the subject area
- Conveys and exchanges basic technical and factual information with colleagues, clients and customers
- May have limited management responsibilities
- May be responsible for providing basic training to new employees
- May supervise entry or experienced level professional staff
- Other functions as needed
- B.S./B.A. or M.B.A./M.S. in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, and/or equivalent formal training or work experience
- Five (5) or more years proven experience in the field with or without progressive responsibilities (analysis, programing, design, debugging, testing, etc)
- Must have Strong SQL skills
- Visual Studio, Visual Studio Code, Git Source Control and Azure DevOps
- Experience with reporting tools such as SSRS, PowerBI
- ETL tool experience such as SSIS and Azure Data Factory
- Financial Industry experience (Brokerage/Investment Banking) preferred
- Must have Demonstrated knowledge in programming languages such as C#, Python
- JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML, CSS, Angular framework
- RESTful API service development experience
- Entity Framework
- Understanding of web security principles and practices
- Blazor development experience a plus
- Computer hardware, operating system (Windows) and software/application (MS Office, Outlook etc.) skills
- Strong problem solving and decision-making skills
- Self-development skills to keep up to date with fast-changing trends
