Cloud Design Data Engineer

Position type: Contract

Duration: 6 month plus

Location: Remote

As an Cloud Design Engineer you will:

Key Skills: Mandatory 3 years of hands on experience.

Cloud Platforms: AWS ( Kubernetes), Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure.

Data Storage: Data lakes, data warehouses, cloud storage service (S3) Data Pipelines: Developing and maintaining data pipelines for ETL processes.

Programming Languages: Python, Java, Scala Data Management Systems: SQL, NoSQL, Hadoop, Postgress Data Security and Governance: Understanding of data security best practices and compliance regulations.

Problem-Solving and Analytical Skills: Ability to troubleshoot issues and analyze data to identify patterns and trends.

Key Responsibilities of a Cloud Data Engineer

  • Designing and implementing scalable and secure data storage solutions in the cloud, ensuring optimal performance and accessibility.
  • Developing and maintaining robust data pipelines for the ingestion, transformation, and distribution of large datasets.
  • Automating data processes and integrating third-party services
  • Utilizing cloud services and tools to automate data workflows and streamline the data engineering process.
  • Ensuring compliance with data governance and security policies, including data encryption and access controls.
  • Monitoring cloud data systems' performance (Cloud Watch), identifying bottlenecks, and implementing improvements to enhance efficiency.
  • Conducting data quality checks and implementing measures to ensure data accuracy and integrity.
  • Optimizing data retrieval and developing APIs for data consumption by various enterprise consumers.
  • Providing technical expertise and support for data-related issues, including troubleshooting and resolving data pipeline failures.
  • Collaborating with IT and security teams to plan and execute disaster recovery strategies for cloud-based data systems.
  • Documenting data engineering processes, creating data flow diagrams, and maintaining metadata for data lineage and cataloging.
  • Collaborating with architects, analysts, and other engineers to support data modeling, analysis, and reporting needs.
  • Staying current with emerging cloud technologies and data engineering practices to recommend and adopt innovations that improve data systems
  • As an Engineer you will create and/or modify solutions to complex software problems.
  • This includes coding, testing, debugging, documenting, and maintaining those solutions.
  • You will participate in leading smaller engineering efforts as well as contributing to larger, enterprise wide initiatives.
  • The Engineering teams are challenged to partner across departments and divisions to achieve the best outcomes for our customers.

Designing Solutions

  • Apply technical knowledge to drive outcomes for customers
  • Ability to work and problem solve independently on initiatives that align to the broader software engineering strategy
  • Proficient at designing solutions within core framework of software products within this team
  • Participate in low level design for the product area / within the team.

Implementing Solutions

  • Use independent, critical thinking to solve complex problems which are significant to the customer.
  • Member of team that can work independently, as well as collaboratively with team, in developing core software for the product that delivers outcomes.
  • Consistent and dependable in delivering core software that delivers outcomes and meets/exceeds the teams expectations for stability, scalability, resilience, etc.
  • Learning and Applying New Techniques
  • Seek out opportunities to learn new technologies that improve the product and its lifecycle.

Collaborating within the Team

  • Participate in team’s collaboration sessions to provide technical expertise to solve a problem/remove technical roadblocks for the team
  • Participate in product planning and implementation.
  • Helps team to understand and decompose work

DevOps

  • Participates in the team support rotation and builds knowledge on focus subsystems.
  • Coaching Engineers
  • Provide technical expertise and help the team to solve technical/software issues
  • Provide trainings to the junior developers and groom them
  • Recruiting/Building Talent
  • Participate in the interview process or be part of the panel to recruit the right talent to the team

PAY RANGE AND BENEFITS:

Pay Range: $65

Pay range offered to a successful candidate will be based on several factors, including the candidate's education, work experience, work location, specific job duties, certifications, etc.
