Compensation

At S&C, we are dedicated to providing competitive and equitable compensation for all our team members, and we are committed to transparency in our pay practices. The estimated annual base salary range for this position is $94160 - $124762. Individual pay within this salary range is determined by several compensable factors, including performance, knowledge, job-related skills and experience, and relevant education or training. This role is also eligible for S&C’s annual incentive plan (AIP), subject to eligibility criteria.

Are you passionate about Facilities and Engineering? S&C Electric Company is seeking a dynamic individual to join our Facilities function. As a Facilities Project Engineer, you’ll be crucial in ensuring smooth operations and supporting our diverse team.

The Maintenance Engineer is responsible for building and grounds projects across the Chicago campus and for coordinating outside maintenance services. This position reports to the Manager of Facilities Engineering.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversight of the building systems requiring external service, including but not limited to: overhead doors, fire doors, infrared inspections, roof inspection/maintenance/repairs, automatic transfer switches, backflow preventers, electronic scales, elevators, rotating equipment/balancing, dock levelers, diesel generators, gate operators, fire protection, air compressors, vibration analysis and building automation systems.
  • Coordinating maintenance, inspections, calibrations, and programming with outside service providers.
  • Monitoring facilities equipment conditions and trends to ensure efficient and reliable operation throughout the campus.
  • Preparing and tracking scheduled PMs, diagnosing and resolving reliability issues and coordinating outside contractor services.
  • Reviewing and providing feedback on proposed system upgrades and equipment repairs.
  • Scheduling external training for maintenance department technicians.

What you’ll Need To Succeed:

Job Requirements (To select this job at a minimum you must have the following):

  • Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering discipline (electrical, mechanical, civil or similar).
  • Experience with facilities maintenance and contractor management.
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal to clearly present ideas in a variety of forums.
  • Computer proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Technical competence in building mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Ability to prioritize work and stay organized to meet project schedules and internal customer requests.
  • Ability to review, interpret and effectively comment on drawing as required to accurately communicate desired construction to contractors.
  • Knowledge of controls and ability to troubleshoot/diagnose issues
  • Competence with Computer Maintenance Management Systems and ability to automate within the CMMS environment.

Preferred:

  • Experience with audit compliance.
  • Experience with preventative maintenance.
  • Experience with project management.
  • Experience with Building Automation Systems
  • Ability to read electrical and mechanical schematic drawings.

Major Physical Demands:

  • Standing: Occasionally required to sit in a stationary position for hours at a time throughout the work day
  • Walking: Frequently walking throughout the facility
  • Carrying: Occasional carrying of light objects
  • Pushing: Infrequent pushing of objects
  • Observation/Eyesight: Frequently required to observe details at close range including depth perception, peripheral vision and the ability to differentiate between colors
  • Environment: Standard office
