SENIOR BUSINESS CONTROLLER GROUP FUNCTIONS

The Senior Business Controller Group Functions plays a critical role in ensuring effective financial control and performance monitoring of projects and operations. This position is responsible for producing and tracking targets for group SGA and all corporate function P&Ls, forecasting costs, analyzing variances, and providing actionable insights to support decision-making. The Senior Business Controller Group Functions collaborates closely with project managers, procurement teams, and finance departments to ensure accurate cost reporting and financial integrity.

Job Description

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Act as lead finance business partner for corporate functions (e.g. Finance, HR, IT, Sales etc.).
  • Develop, implement, and maintain cost control systems, procedures, and reporting standards for the group’s SGA, covering both projects and operations.
  • Monitor project and operational targets, ensuring expenditures are in line with approved financial plans.
  • Prepare monthly cost reports, forecasts, and variance analyses, providing explanations for deviations.
  • Coordinate with project managers and department heads to gather relevant financial data and cost drivers.
  • Support the target setting and planning process for all corporate functions, including preparation of long-term financial plans.
  • Analyze historical cost data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for cost optimization.
  • Review and validate contractor invoices, change orders, and other cost-related documents.
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies, financial controls, and audit requirements.
  • Provide financial input during contract negotiations and procurement planning.
  • Train and mentor team members (if applicable). Ensure accurate forecasts through close collaboration with customer and Business Operations in Shipping Service.
  • Own the planning, implementation and execution of SGA transfer pricing.

Job Requirements

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

  • Minimum bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or related field.
  • Minimum of 5, preferably 7-10 years of experience in cost control, financial analysis, or project controls preferably in industries such as shipping, logistics, manufacturing etc.
  • Proficiency in financial software such as ERP systems, consolidation and forecasting tools, Excel etc.
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.

EVEN BETTER IF YOU HAVE:

  • Working knowledge of PowerBI is a plus.
  • Leadership experience is a plus.
  • Professional certification (e.g., CMA, CPA, CIMA) is a plus.
