The Florida Department of Corrections is seeking qualified applicants for Warden positions across the state. Selected candidates will be held to a high standard of professionalism and leadership to staff, offenders and the public and will be expected to represent the Florida Department of Corrections at all times through social media, official Department of Corrections events and conduct in daily interactions with the public.
Under the direction of Secretary, Ricky Dixon, the Florida Department of Corrections (FDC) is the third largest state prison system in the country with approximately 83,000 inmates incarcerated and another 166,000 offenders on active community supervision. The DC has 151 facilities and more than 24,000 staff members statewide, making it the State’s largest agency.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
The Warden is the Institution’s executive manager and provides top level management which includes, but is not limited to, operational oversight in the areas of security, custody and control, personnel administration (i.e., hiring, separation, discipline and promotion of staff), purchasing, policy and procedures interpretation/formulation, collective bargaining administration, general services, and accounting/budget matters within the institution. This position is comprised of managerial responsibilities and is a position of special trust overseeing the administration and coordination of the operations of an institution.
