Posting Summary

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Temporary Research Assistant for the Department of Microbiology, Biochemistry and Molecular Genetics within the New Jersey Medical School.

Under the direction of the Principal Investigator, the Temporary Research Assistant will engage in parasitology research related activities. The candidate will be responsible for molecular biology, protein purification, enzymatic assays, IC50 determination, tissue culture, animal work, microscopy and maintaining a detailed laboratory notebook. Duties will also include general laboratory maintenance.

Among the key duties of this position are the following;

  • Protein expression and purification.
  • Enzymatic assays and IC50 determination.
  • Rodent (mouse and rat) surgeries, injections and colony maintenance.
  • Mosquito colony maintenance, infections with Plasmodium parasites and dissections.
  • General molecular biology, tissue culture and cell biological techniques.
  • Light, fluorescent and confocal microscopy.
