Job Summary

Synechron is seeking a knowledgeable and proactive Senior Murex Front Office & Risk Support Engineer to join our team, supporting critical trading and risk modules within our financial systems. This mid-level role focuses on providing production support for Murex’s Front Office and Risk functionality, assisting with issue diagnosis, configuration management, and stakeholder collaboration. The ideal candidate will possess a solid understanding of risk management concepts, trading operations, and Murex’s GOM configurations, working closely with business users, IT teams, and vendors to ensure system stability and support strategic initiatives.

This role contributes directly to the reliability of trading and risk management processes, ensuring timely resolution of issues, accurate risk calculations, and robust configurations that underpin business decision-making.

Software Requirements

Required Skills:

  • Proficiency with Murex (version 3.1 or higher) focusing on Front Office and Risk modules
  • Experience in analyzing issues related to P&L, market risk, credit risk, pricing, simulations, and market data
  • Knowledge of GOM configurations and static data (e.g., instruments, reference data)
  • Hands-on experience in troubleshooting and resolving system issues in a production environment
  • Good understanding of cross-asset class configurations and risk management concepts
  • Strong communication skills for engaging with business users, IT teams, and Murex vendors

Preferred Skills:

  • Familiarity with other risk management and trading systems
  • Knowledge of automation tools or scripting (e.g., Python, VBA) is advantageous

Overall Responsibilities

  • Support daily operations of Murex Front Office and Risk modules, ensuring system stability
  • Investigate and resolve issues related to P&L calculations, risk metrics, pricing models, and data discrepancies
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to address queries and resolve configuration or data issues
  • Assist in managing GOM configurations, static data, and cross-asset class setup
  • Participate in system upgrades, change management, and testing activities
  • Document issues, solutions, process changes, and configuration details for team knowledge
  • Monitor system performance, identify risks, and recommend improvements
  • Maintain effective communication with stakeholders regarding incident status, risk issues, and ongoing support requirements
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives in procedures and configurations

  • Prior experience in a support organization within financial institutions—trading desks, risk teams, or similar—preferred
  • Supporting support in 24x5 or 24x7 environments, handling urgent incident escalations
  • Industry experience in banking, trading, or risk management sectors is advantageous

Alternative experience pathways:

  • Candidates with extensive support experience in related trading/risk systems demonstrating deep understanding of Murex modules may be considered

Day-to-Day Activities

  • Monitor daily Murex Front Office and Risk modules for issues or alerts
  • Investigate and troubleshoot discrepancies in P&L, risk metrics, and data quality
  • Collaborate with traders, risk managers, IT team, and vendors to resolve incidents and support requests
  • Assist in static data management, GOM configurations, and risk setup for multiple asset classes
  • Support system upgrades, configuration adjustments, and testing activities
  • Document incidents, solutions, and best practices for team knowledge base
  • Participate in change management, incident reviews, and process improvements
  • Provide timely updates and communicate issues clearly to stakeholders

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
  • Strong understanding of risk management, trading workflows, and modelling
  • Experience with GOM configuration and static data setup
  • Good SQL and scripting skills for troubleshooting and data analysis
  • Proven ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities
  • Willingness to support shifts, including non-core hours, as needed
