Job Description Summary

The DTS Systems Lead will provide Systems engineering expertise and leadership to the Data Transfer Systems product team. Systems is a cross-functional engineering discipline centered on the product development approach, mindset, and process and includes activities that consider both the business and the technical needs of the customers with the goal of providing a quality product that meets the user’s needs. Systems is the discipline that executes a robust process of design, creation, and optimization of systems, consisting of identification and quantification of system requirements, creation of alternate system design concepts, performance of design trade studies, selection and implementation of the best designs and verification that the design is properly integrated and executed.

The DTS Systems Lead impacts the team's ability to achieve service, quality and timeliness of objectives. There is significant autonomy within the role. High levels of operational judgment are required to achieve outcomes required.

This role may also take on Project Management duties for small projects at times. The project manager provides leadership for the full life cycle of new product design and development.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

• Candidate should have experience in avionics systems engineering
• Be capable of providing technical leadership for avionics systems definition, design, integration, and verification.
• Candidate should have prior experience in avionics computing and/or data systems at the LRU level.
• Candidates should have prior experience in defining architectures and requirements for avionics systems for avionics computing and data storage products.
• The candidate must be familiar with systems engineering processes including requirements definition, requirement allocation, requirements management, certification, and requirements verification and validation.
• The candidate must have first-hand experience with integrating software onto hardware platforms,
• Candidate must be familiar working with test equipment, formal qualification testing, formal requirements verification, and the various design assurance disciplines and manufacturing.
• The candidate must be able to work closely with customers, to organize and lead the systems portion of design reviews from SRR through to PRR.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college
• Minimum of 15 years of experience in product development or Aerospace Engineering/Technology.
• This role requires use of technical data subject to U.S. Government contract restrictions and this posting is only for U.S. Citizens. GE will require proof of status.

Desired Qualifications

• Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance
• Past experience designing products with the following technologies:
  • Data Transfer Products including removable storage devices
  • Networking and communications protocols
  • Cyber Security including Encryption
  • Real Time Operating systems (RTOS) including Linux
  • File Systems and data storage technologies
  • Mission Planning for military aircraft
  • Computing Platforms
• Circuit card hardware design experience/familiarity
• Embedded software design experience/familiarity
• Experience designing and qualifying Avionics equipment for Military applications
• Proficient with the DOORs Requirements management tool
• MBSE experience including Cameo
• Good written and verbal communications skills are important
• Prior experience providing engineering project management tasks
