Computational Health Platform
Essential Duties
1. Creates a relational database from existing study data currently stored in multiple data sources. Designs comprehensive and relational databases with advance knowledge of relevant applications impacting on the data analyses and reporting. 2. Develops and documents operational procedures for the collection, editing, verification and management of study data. Documents all study data files, data structure and relationships, variable definitions and data codes. Writes detailed specifications for analysis files and performs consistency checks. 3. Develops and implements relevant statistical programs to incorporate data from multiple studies/projects. 4. Organizes and creates documents and tables related to datasets; communicates with data sources about data accuracy and data dictionary. 5. Evaluates and analyzes data using accepted statistical techniques and statistical analysis software. Performs descriptive and multivariate statistical analyses of data, using computer software. 6. Uses advanced statistical knowledge to provide support in managing and analyzing data. 7. Designs and implements quality control measures to ensure accurate collection and processing of data. Ensures the integrity of databases used in analyses through development of essential data cleaning and checks, and data back-ups. 8. Responsible for the documentation and transmission of study data. Ensures that data are collected and completed in a timely manner at each site location. 9. May perform other duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience
Master’s degree in statistics, computer science or a related field and two years of experience in data management and analysis or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience with data collection and in coordinating efforts of multiple groups.

Position Focus:
The Computational Health Platform (CHP) will play a key role in supporting clinical operations by developing and optimizing data pipelines, managing large-scale healthcare datasets, and implementing advanced analytics to improve patient care, operational efficiency, and decision-making in the Department of Emergency Medicine. This role will collaborate with clinicians, administrators, and IT teams to enhance data integration, automate reporting, and drive analytics-driven insights for emergency department (ED) workflow optimization and resource management.
Reporting to the Assistant Director, Clinical Operations, the CHP Data Scientist will focus on leveraging technology and data science methodologies to support real-time decision-making, streamline workflows, and enhance performance monitoring within the ED.
The role will be fully on-site 5 days/week for the first 90 days, it will then convert to Hybrid (3 days/week).
Preferred Education, Experience and Skills:
Master’s or PhD in Computer Science, Data Science, Biostatistics, Engineering, Computational Mathematics, or a related field. Proven experience in healthcare analytics, hospital operations, or clinical informatics. Proficiency in Python and/or R for data analysis and visualization.

Required Skill/Ability 1:
Expertise in SQL and database query optimization (experience with PySpark preferred).
Required Skill/Ability 2:
Strong understanding of Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems, clinical workflows, and healthcare operations. Proven experience with cloud computing environments (AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure) for large-scale data processing.
Required Skill/Ability 3:
Ability to develop interactive dashboards and automated reporting tools using Tableau, Power BI, or similar platforms. Familiarity with FHIR standards, HL7, and healthcare data interoperability.
Required Skill/Ability 4:
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights. Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across clinical and administrative teams.
