Job Title Linguistic QA Tester

Department Staffing/Quality Management

Reports To Vendor Project Manager

MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB

As a Linguistic QA Tester, you will primarily be proofreading and editing content already localized to your native language, making sure you catch any errors in the content, such as: grammar, typos, syntax, punctuation, capitalization, political incorrectness, inconsistencies, and extra spaces between words or characters. You will sometimes be translating content from English to your native language. You will also be checking UIs for functional issues.

Welocalize is seeking Linguistic Reviewer in the languages listed below. You will be using devices to test a wide range of internally and externally facing applications and tools. We are looking for a candidate with a background in: Marketing, Journalism, Copy Editing, Writing and/or Localization. The tester will be conducting test cases, identify localization bugs, report them via an internal bug tracking system as well as verify the fixes once implemented.

Job requirements:

Austin, TX (100% onsite, no remote work)

W-2 (eligible for benefits based on hours worked)

Monday-Friday (set hours)

You must have a valid visa to work in the USA

  • Native-level fluency in their respective language (grammar, vocabulary, composition, punctuation)
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken)
  • Experience working in translation
  • Tech savvy, with experience testing web-based systems and applications on Mac OS X and iOS
  • Ability to prioritize linguistic issues and distinguish between a true must-fix and a nice-to-have
  • Experience working with test cases and test scripts
  • Experience with bug tracking systems
  • Ability to clearly articulate reproduction steps for a given issue and communicate critical information
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to work with a very diverse team
  • Flexibility to work during non-business hours, weekends, and national/federal holidays
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong team ethic
