Description

The Oncology Exercise Physiologist will be the foundation of the Miami Cancer Institute exercise physiology program for cancer patients and survivors. This will include individual exercise consults, group education classes, pre and post fitness assessments, and supervised training sessions. Working with the medical, surgical, and radiation oncologists as well as all multidisciplinary team members of the Cancer Institute, the oncology exercise physiologist will assist patient/s with assessments, education, and training to achieve a healthier lifestyle and aid in prevention of cancer or other chronic disease recurrence. This role will spearhead this new program for the Miami Cancer Institute and collaborate with the already robust BHSF Rehab Department. Due to the nature of this role, strong knowledge of exercise within an oncology setting as well as working with patients and physicians is preferred. Estimated pay range for this position is $22.20 - $28.86 / hour depending on experience.

Qualifications

Degrees:

  • Bachelors Degree is required.

Licenses & Certifications:

  • ACSM Certified Cancer Exercise Trainer.
  • Basic Life Support.
  • Drivers License from Florida.
  • ACSM Certified Exercise Physiologist.

Additional Qualifications:

  • BS Exercise Physiology required.
  • Masters preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years clinical experience with chronic disease (oncology preferred) patients required.
  • Program planning, fitness assessments, and exercise planning experience required.
  • Ability to administer pulse oximetry screening.
  • Familiar with research administration, implementation, and study participation.
  • Experience with supervision of students preferred.
  • Current member of a specialty organization.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish helpful.
  • Incumbent must complete Cancer Exercise Trainer Certification within first year of employment and Exercise Physiologist Certification within first 6 months of employment.
