What’s the job?

The Learning Facilitator/Lecturer (Nutrition) is responsible for preparing, delivering, and assessing subjects as allocated. Lecturers must work to ensure students are provided with the best opportunity to attain learning outcomes/competencies and satisfactorily complete their assessment tasks. Learning Facilitators must participate in course review initiatives, including validation and moderation activities, and are required to be available to provide student support outside of timetabled class hours. Learning Facilitators may also be delegated special projects or duties related to the management of subjects or programs, academic quality, subject development, or research. Importantly, Learning Facilitators are required to stay abreast of their discipline by undertaking relevant professional development activities and maintaining their proficiency/currency through a self-directed program of academic scholarship.

Day-to-day accountabilities:

  • Manage small or large, blended/hybrid and or/online classes, as well as monitor and ensure participation
  • Manage their own and the student’s time and attention to learning effectively
  • Prepare and review teaching materials and make any recommendations necessary as per organisational policy and procedures
  • Make proper use of all current subject outlines, teaching material (shared lesson plans, slides, videos, etc.) and student learning materials (texts, workbooks, handouts, study guides, interactive PDFs, portal content, journal articles, etc.),
  • Utilise learning technology effectively and embed in subject delivery,
  • Engage in student centered learning and teaching practices including, but not limited to, flipped learning, maintaining an active and positive education experience
  • Engage with models of best practice in applying pedagogical principles, instructional strategies, and communication strategies appropriate to the learners; including modes of instruction and the educational context of Torrens Global Education (TGE)
  • Ensure the learning experience complies with the strategic goals of the organisation; for example: industry immersion, student employability and authentic experiences

This is a casual role position which can be located in Flinders Street Melbourne, Surry Hills Sydney or Bowen Terrace Brisbane.

Who you are

  • Experience in teaching nutritional medicine/clinical nutrition subjects
  • Experience in clinical practicum supervision
  • Private practice experience as a clinically trained Nutritionist
  • Hold full Professional Association Membership
  • Hold minimum of a master's degree in nutrition
  • Understanding of pedagogical and/or adult learning principles relevant to the student cohort being taught
  • Sound understanding of current scholarship and/or professional practice in the discipline that is being taught
  • Ability to work competently and harmoniously with colleagues and students of all cultures and backgrounds
  • Computer literacy in appropriate discipline-specific and learning technologies as per business requirements
