Description UAB Transportation is seeking a Program Coordinator I (Customer Service) to assist at the front desk and provide exceptional guest service in a high-traffic environment. The ideal candidate will have a warm, welcoming, and engaging presence. Under minimal supervision, this role performs department-specific office and clerical tasks of moderate complexity. Responsibilities may include maintaining departmental databases, records, and files, as well as gathering and interpreting data to generate detailed reports. The incumbent will also handle confidential information with discretion.

Starting Pay Range: $15.00 – $20.48/hour (Commensurate with experience & qualifications)

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

High School diploma or GED and three (3) years of related experience required. Previous experience working in a fast-paced office environment with many distractions helpful. This is a heavy traffic/heavy customer service position. Must be able to maintain professionalism under stressful situations.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS INCLUDE:

  • Greets and welcomes all customers in a professional and courteous manner
  • Establishes rapport and provides solutions to customer inquiries
  • Uses multiple computer software programs effectively
  • Assists customers with parking-related matters
  • Processes payments and manages transactions
  • Handles cash and credit transactions securely
  • Maintains and updates departmental databases
  • Responds to phone calls from internal and external customers
  • Keeps records and files up to date
  • Supports management in preparation for special activities

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Strong organizational and time management skills

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships

Licenses/Certifications/Registrations:

Driving record should meet University underwriting guidelines to drive vehicle in performance of University business. Current underwriting guidelines include possession a valid driver’s license, issued in the United States; at least 21 years of age; at least three years of driving experience; maintain an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).

Physical:

Required to possess the necessary physical requirements, with or without the aid of mechanical devices, to safely perform the duties and responsibilities that require performing tasks requiring staring and sitting

at a computer screen for long periods of time, lifting, bending, stooping, kneeling, walking significant distances between and within buildings, and climbing stairs.

Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, between 7:00AM – 5:00PM (Subject to change to accommodate the needs of the University)

Seeking candidates with very pleasant disposition, who are comfortable being front and center, and who enjoy communicating with internal and external customers. Oracle a plus, but not required. Microsoft Office, specifically Excel required. Must be detail oriented and comfortable with spreadsheets and analyzing data—accuracy a must.
