Colorado State University is seeking an Associate Director of Development in the Walter Scott, Jr. College of Engineering.

Researchers in the Walter Scott, Jr. College of Engineering, who receive one-fifth of the university’s $546M sponsored support, continue to make important contributions to global challenges in water, environment, climate, health, infrastructure, and advanced technology.

Position Summary

The Development Operations Coordinator (DOC) is responsible for making decisions that impact students, faculty, staff, alumni, and donors of the Walter Scott, Jr. College of Engineering for years to come. The DOC will manage all operational aspects for the college’s development team. These include, but are not limited to, overseeing and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of donor data and gift funds, supporting donor relations and stewardship projects for the college. The DOC will create, maintain, and suggest improvements to processes that support frontline fundraisers, as the dean and college leadership in their donor interactions. Administrative tasks include assisting with calendars and scheduling, processing receipts and travel documents and other duties affiliated with cultivating and stewarding donors. This may include preparing internal and external development communications; visit/trip materials; entering contact reports in the CRM; developing presentations; assisting with fundraising material creation and editing; supporting proposal creation; pulling ad-hoc reports and co-managing assigned budgets. This position will report to the Executive Director of Development and will assist four college development officers.

Required Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, communications, marketing, or related fields.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in an administrative role, such as project or office management and/or customer facing role such as sales, marking, non-profit management or development office.
  • Proven familiarity with and demonstrated ability to use appropriate business software applications including but not limited to CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work non-standard hours, including attending and supporting events early in the morning, evening, and some weekends.

Preferred Job Qualifications

  • The ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain confidentiality where necessary.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and expertise in use of English grammar, punctuation, and syntax.
  • Must have strong organizational skills and demonstrated experience tracking and driving multiple projects simultaneously
  • Understanding or experience in donor relations, fundraising environment
  • Demonstrated ability to work professionally and independently with limited supervision on a fast-paced, high-functioning team.
  • Detail oriented in all communications and management of numerous projects.
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills and the ability to anticipate and address upcoming assignments and challenges with confidence.
  • Proven familiarity with higher education and/or large-scale non-profit organization.
