Bachelor's degree in Engineering. Two years of engineering experience are required. A State of Florida Professional Engineer license; or Bachelor's degree in Engineering Technology awarded or having been enrolled prior to July 1, 1979 and proof of having passed the fundamentals test for the State of Florida Professional Engineer license may substitute for the required education.
This position will be assigned to the Engineering and Technical Services Division and will be responsible for delivering essential infrastructure for the solid waste operations.
This position will be tasked with managing engineering consultants and firms on a variety of projects, including landfills, transfer stations, trash and recycling centers, household hazardous waste collection facilities, vehicle wash stations, administrative buildings, and other related infrastructure.
This position entails leading and supporting project activities through all phases of design, permitting, bidding, and construction. The incumbent in this position will be responsible for reviewing engineering proposals, plans, specifications, technical calculations, cost estimates, reports, invoices, and regulatory documents to ensure compliance with project scope, budget, regulatory standards, and County requirements. In addition, the incumbent in this position will be responsible for the oversight during the permitting and bidding phases and providing technical support during construction as needed to help ensure successful project delivery.
