Job Description
The Maintenance Tech II is a general maintenance technician who is assigned to a specific zone(s) or group of building(s), as part of their duties they perform day to day tasks which include, but are not limited to, providing inspection and surveillance of defects and necessary repairs, creation and assignment of corrective work orders, facilitate and complete repairs, complete assigned preventive maintenance work orders, assist in equipment installations and alterations to building systems. A probationary period of 90 days will be given for the organization to determine their ability, skill set, and ensure they uphold the values of the department and the organization.
Responsibilities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assists Maintenance Tech III with the inspection and surveillance of defects that impact the daily operations or overall appearance of the facility.
- Assists Maintenance Tech III by performing necessary repairs that support the daily operations or overall appearance of the facility.
- Complete assigned preventive maintenance work orders that support the daily operations or overall appearance of the facility.
- Assists Maintenance Tech III with equipment installations and alterations to building systems.
- Duties include but are not limited to patching, painting, ceiling tile repair/replacement, flooring repair, plunge and snake plumbing obstructions, electrical consisting of bulb, ballast, and driver replacement, filter replacements, minor carpentry, thermostat calibration, and general maintenance activities or other items as assigned.
Other Functions:
- Assists the Facilities Management department as member of a snow removal team.
- Assists the Facilities Management department as member of the fire response team.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Outside Contractors, Vendors, and Temporary Labor
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent with further education or experience in general maintenance or construction, or enrolled in High School Apprenticeship Program
- Knowledge of hand and power tools and repair techniques
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to function as part of a team
- Ability to read technical documents and follow verbal instructions
- Ability to read and interpret drawings
- Valid Virginia driver’s license
Preferred Qualifications:
- Two (2) years’ documented workforce experience or successfully completed Maintenance Tech I position requirements (18 months minimum; Centra internal candidates only)
Travel Required
Travel as needed within the Centra coverage area is expected to be greater than 10% of the time.
