Position Overview:

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Assistant Manager to provide comprehensive support to our Environmental Laboratories Cluster (Chem-Analytics Laboratory & M-Laboratory). In this key role, you will oversee the Environment Lab Cluster’s equipment usage and charging, ensure equipment functionality, and drive innovation in environmental engineering research. You will also support teaching activities, manage resources effectively, and contribute to NTU's mission of advancing academic and technological excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversees daily operations of the Environment Laboratories Cluster (Chem-Analytics Laboratory & M-Laboratory), including equipment training, usage & maintenance, inventory, and safety compliance.
  • Provide technical guidance and logistical support to faculty, researchers, and students across research and teaching activities.
  • Manage budgets and procurement for laboratory equipment, maintenance, and consumables, ensuring optimal resource allocation.
  • Facilitate laboratory’s staff and researchers’ collaboration, sustainability initiatives, and process improvement projects.
  • Promote a culture of safety and compliance through training, audits, and proactive risk management.

Requirements:

  • A degree in Engineering (preferably Chemical / Environmental / Mechanical / Materials Engineering) or Applied Sciences or a related field is preferred. A postgraduate qualification in engineering is advantageous but not mandatory
  • Strong understanding of environmental processes, biological / chemical analytical equipment and materials characterization techniques, including instrumentation handling procedures and compliance with relevant licensing regulations.
  • Proficiency in IT systems and tools is highly preferred.
  • Proven experience in managing operations, safety protocols, and supporting diverse research and teaching needs.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills, with proficiency in financial planning, budgeting, and resource management.
  • Outstanding communication and collaboration abilities, with a proactive and results-driven mindset.
