Introduction
At ASML Research, everyone is part of a multidisciplinary team. Physicists, data scientists, chemical engineers, metrology experts and more – all working together in different teams to crack a particular challenge. Each team member brings a different set of skills to attack technical challenges from different angles. The result? Incredibly imaginative breakthroughs at the cutting edge of engineering.
ASML Research is currently looking for an expert in extreme light generation and high fields physics and numerical modeling to strengthen our team of research scientists investigating the development of ultra bright light sources for metrology and lithography.
Role and responsibilities
As expert in extreme light generation and high fields physics and numerical modeling, you will be responsible for building modeling tools that describe the generation, amplification and propagation of photons in different media (solid, liquid, gas, plasma) and wavelength ranges extending as far as hard x-rays. There are many complex interaction between light and matter to be explored, leading to a thorough understanding of a system able to produce the high intensities, wavelength ranges and brightnesses needed in our machines. Your goal will be to explore those light matter interactions, from the perspective of light.
You will work in a team of scientists in the fields of light generation, currently working with (ultra-fast) lasers, solid state sources, plasma sources, non-linear fibers and more. Within this team, your focus will be on developing modeling tools to accurately explain experimental observations and enable to push the performances further while keeping the systems technically consistent with an industrial context. You will also be in a position to propose and explore new concepts and device architectures which bring the performances beyond current levels and ensure the leading performance of our machines.
In this position, you will be responsible for:
