Job Description

The Computer Consultant II is responsible for planning and management of software, server, and desktop infrastructures within the College of Professional Studies. This position will aid the Director in implementing and maintaining various technologies at SU, but focuses on daily management of the Syracuse University network and computing assets (PCs, Macs, mobile devices, printers, servers, network equipment and software). This position will also assist the Director in carrying out projects that will benefit business and academic operations for the College of Professional Studies and Syracuse University.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • Three (3) plus years relevant experience in information technology.

Skills and Knowledge

  • Considerable experience developing, implementing, and supporting technological solutions for a wide variety of IT challenges.
  • Hardware and software troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Strong work ethic.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Proficiency with the Mac platform and JAMF is desired.
  • Software packaging skills are preferred.
  • Fluency with PowerShell is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Directly support the College of Professional Studies’ electronic devices and employees.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, resolve and document end user technology issues.
  • Administer the Divisions Microsoft Active Directory/Azure/Office365 network computing environment.
  • Develop and maintain documentation for common procedures and high-volume help desk tickets.
  • Manage projects identified by the Director of IT. Project goals include, but are not limited to, setting target dates and deadlines; establishing procedures and goals for a successful project; and collaborating with units across campus.
  • Other duties as assigned.
